Working from home, I firmly believe that participating in sports is essential for maintaining our health, especially since we spend most of our days hunched over a desk.
Sports offer health benefits and provide a fantastic opportunity to meet new people. When I first joined a sports club, our initial discussions focused on techniques and improving our skills. However, after a few sessions, our conversations deepened, and we began making plans outside of the club. Safe to say, we all became close friends.
Tennis
I absolutely love tennis. The scent of the ball and the wide open courts truly ignite my passion for the sport.
Tennis provides an excellent escape from staying at home for long lengths of time, offering a chance to enjoy the sunlight. The optimal time to play is early morning, around 5 a.m., when the sun is gentle and the breeze is refreshing. The cool air won’t be a concern as the physical activity (running mostly) will keep you warm.I absolutely love tennis. Tennis has one of the steepest learning curves, but don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t feel natural at first or if you don’t grasp the technique within the first few sessions. Trust me, it will be worth it in the end when you improve at the game.
The athleticism demanded in tennis is intense, yet it’s what makes the sport exceptional. Tennis pushes us to exceed our limits and strategize with precision to outplay our opponents. Much like life, it teaches us that there are multiple ways to solve a problem. To look at all the angles before we put our strikes in.
Pickleball
If you want to skip lengthy practice sessions and jump straight into having fun, let me introduce you to Pickleball.
Pickleball, affectionately known as “Mini Tennis,” is a highly enjoyable and community-focused sport. Through playing Pickleball, I have encountered many kind and exceptional individuals who I became friends with.
While not as physically demanding as tennis, it is an excellent sport for breaking a sweat.
I love Pickleball because the court is the same size as a badminton court, making it easy to accommodate and leading to the construction of numerous new courts.
It’s accessible and easy for everyone to play. If you’ve experienced other racket sports, you’ll find that the skills transfer seamlessly to Pickleball. It also has almost the same forms as badminton, table tennis and lawn tennis combined, so if you are from these sports, you can play Pickleball with ease.
Overall Pickleball is a fun, accessible and a good exercise of a sport.
Final Thoughts

A new study out of Denmark found that adults who played tennis or other racket and team sports lived longer than those who participated in other healthy, yet solitary activities such as running, swimming and cycling. [Source]
With that said, go grab a racket and visit your court and play!
